Right to Life Novena 10-6 through 10-14

The protection of life is a sustained prayer intention of the Church, and in particular of the Knights of Columbus. Our Fr. McCormick  Council #3880 will sponsor a Novena for Life, nine days of sustained prayer, to build up a culture of life in our parish, homes and community. It will begin on October 6th. Please see the bulletin for more details.

The Knights remain firmly committed to defending the right to life of every human being – from the moment of conception to natural death. To commemorate and bolster this important cause, our St. Thomas council #3880 will sponsor a Novena for Life, nine days of sustained prayer, to build up a culture of life in our parish, homes and community.

October 6th is Respect Life Sunday and marks the beginning of the Pro-Life time of the year which extends to the March for Life season.

Our Novena will begin on October 6th and conclude on October 14th.  It will include daily prayers and Knights lead rosaries on 10/7 and 10/14 at 7:30 PM in the Oak Street church.

A special Novena prayer, Gospel of Life, will be said daily throughout the Novena and prayer cards will be distributed at masses. Another prayer, Rosary for Life, will be said during each rosary session and prayer cards will be provided on those evenings. A supply of both prayer cards will be available in the Narthex as well.

We are just one council, but We are the Knights.

Prayer for the Canonization of Venerable Fr. Michael J McGivney

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Fr. Michael J. McGivney,  to be an apostle of Christian family life and lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue, may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant  prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your venerable servant Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession,  bless our parish, our Knights of Columbus Council and Lady’s Auxiliary.

Amen.
